Another beautiful weekend and the possibilities are endless! Let us celebrate the nearing summer solstice with some outdoor events shall we?
Start Friday off with some delicious bites from the bounty of food trucks around the Bay. Food Truck Crush is at the Larkspur Ferry and Off the Grid is at Fort Mason. Jazz by the Bay in Sausalito is a great place to bring a picnic (don’t forget the wine and beer!) and listen to live music. There is a farmer’s market near by as well as some food and drinks being sold there in case you don’t bring anything.
Saturday and Sunday is the 57th Annual North Beach Festival from 10am-6pm. Besides live music and great food, there will also be a pizza tossing contest and cooking demos. I highly recommend taking public transportation in as parking in North Beach is a bitch but if you must drive in, here are some parking options:
Validated Parking is available for $3.00 from 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM: Golden Gateway Garage, 250 Clay, between Battery & Drumm. A “Park & Ride Shuttle” bus departs every few minutes. Ask for the Broadway/Columbus stop. The festival is one block north. Return stop at Grant & Broadway. Look for the red and white “Park & Ride” sign. The ONLY validation stamp is located at Calzone’s Restaurant, 430 Columbus. No purchase necessary.
Additional Parking is available at: 735 Vallejo (south side of street) between Stockton and Powell, 766 Vallejo (north side of street above Central Station) between Stockton and Powell and on Filbert between Columbus and Mason.
Also this weekend is the 61st Annual Juneteenth in San Francisco. Held every year as a celebration of African American history and culture, there is lots of music, entertainment, arts and crafts and of course delicious food. On Saturday at 11am there is a parade, and from 1-6pm there is a car show at Fillmore and Fulton.
If you feel like getting some exercise while you hang out, on Saturday is the SF Bicycle Music Festival from 11am-11pm. It’s the world’s largest 100% bicycle-powered music festival starting at Golden Gate Park (from 12-4pm) and ending up in Potrero Hill.
The Marin Art Festival is being held on Saturday and Sunday at the Marin Civic Center from 10am-6pm. There will be over 250 artists in addition to live music, entertainment, wine and beer, and yummy food including the Great Marin Oysters Feast!
The 5th Annual10am-4pm. King of the County BBQ and Music Festival is being held on Saturday and Sunday at the Martinez Marina Waterfront Park. BBQ, live music, wine tasting and microbreweries…what more do you need? Admission and parking is free.
Helifest is being held this Saturday and Sunday at the Hiller Aviation & Museum from 10am-4pm. In addition to showcasing military and commercial helicopters, there will be food trucks, microbrews, wine and a Kid’s Zone that includes rides, face painting, slides and other activities.
And Happy Father’s Day to all the Papa’s out there! Have a fun and safe weekend. Don’t drink and drive and always wear sunscreen!
If I have left out a festival, let me know so I can share it with everyone!
